Description
The Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rose is a true symphony of wine, orchestrated by Madame Clicquot in 1818 when she blended, for the very first time in Champagne history, a selection of the finest black and white grapes. With this wine-making method, consisting of blending red wines and white wines, Madame Clicquot reinvented rose wine, breaking away from the other champagne Houses whose rose wines were traditionally produced by macerating black grapes in colourless juice. Accolades WS 88 Candied berry, spice, leather and earth notes combine in this robust rose. This is on the firm side, with plenty of fruit and a moderate finish. Drink now through 2018. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. -BS, Wine Spectator, 88 Points WE 91 Still very young, with the crispest of red currant fruits. There are almond and quince flavors to go with the raspberry juice acidity. At this stage, the dosage is not full integrated, showing an awkward final sweetness. Age for 4-5 years. -RV, Wine Enthusiast, Score:91
