PALATE: On the nose, this rich wine displays aromatically expressive black fruits and baked blueberry pie with hints of cedar. On the palate rich and energetic, Possessing striking balance and dense concentration of flavor with smooth tannins and a peppery finish. This wine holds tons of potential and can be enjoyed now or cellared for 2-4 years. VINTAGE: The 2014 growing season was a marriage of heaven and hell. Amid perfect weather and even ripening, California experienced the pinnacle of its historic drought and the south Napa earthquake. This beautiful, tumultuous vintage resulted in very low yields for most North Coast producers and corresponding excellent wines with a characteristic depth of flavor. Harvest was unusually early in 2014, not surprising given the ongoing drought, which was so extreme that the cover crops in many vineyards never took hold. Substantial rain in late February and early March relieved most of the stress and set up the vines for a vigorous start. With this, we see dark color, great aromatics and unique fruit characteristics in the 2014 vintage.
