Description
Accolades WA 91 The latest installment of a bottling I’ve come to think of as one of the consistently best values in Riesling worldwide, Selbach’s 2013 Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett halbtrocken displays a buoyant (at 11% alcohol) and wafting personality that I had not anticipated from this vintage. Chartreuse-like high-toned herbal and floral essences in the nose drift across a palate dominated by tart, juicy crabapple and orange, the piquancy of whose pips adds counterpoint to a performance underlain by classic Mosel wet slate. There is a sense of invigoration and grip to the finish that belies this wine’s lift and refreshment, as if it wanted to shake you by the collar and demand to be taken more seriously. You will enjoy following its moods for at least the next dozen years, during which it can be counted on for outstanding collaboration with a wide range of cuisine.” (12/10) -91 points Parker’s Wine Advocate
