Newton Red Label Claret exhibits its own individual character through the meticulous marrying of carefully selected vineyard blocks of Bordeaux varietals. Blend – Newton Claret is made from young vines on the estate, and as a result, is an accessible wine with soft tannins. 53% Merlot 33% Cabernet Sauvignon 8% Malbec 5% Cabernet Franc 1% Syrah Winemaking – 40% of the grapes are from our Spring Mountain estate, mostly younger vine fruit, that is picked and fermented using indigenous yeast, then aged in French oak, 30% new, for 7 months. Tasting Notes – The wine has aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, and hints of cracked pepper and clove. These aromas carry over to the palate, which leads with red fruit flavors and clove and pepper spices on the finish.
