Deep ruby in color. Intense on black and red fruit, spices and pepper. Fresh and soft with refined tannins with a beautiful cherry finish. Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Counoise 2009 was a fantastic vintage across France and the Rhone was no exception. After a cold winter, 2009 experienced a hot (with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees) and dry summer with very few days where the Mistral presented itself. The high temperatures in August accelerated the ripening of the grapes, but the Perrins decided to wait for phenolic ripeness and delayed the harvest. Most importantly however, the nights were cool enabling the acidity to be maintained in the fruit. Accolades WA 89-91 From the young vines culled out from the Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape as well as from other estates in the northern sector of the appellation, the Perrin et Fils 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Sinards is composed of 70% Grenache and the rest Syrah, Mourvedre, and Counoise. A potentially outstanding effort, it boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as abundant amounts of kirsch, raspberry, roasted herb and underbrush notes, medium to full body, good glycerin, silky tannins and a fleshy, rich finish. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years. The family’s other Chateauneuf! Les Sinards comes from the young vines of Beaucastel as well as a neighbouring vineyard that we farm.
