Description
Intense ruby red, bright and deep in colour. Rich, deep aromas of bramble, redautumn fruit with a hint of balsamic and warm spices from fine oak. The palate isfine, complex and long, with balanced tannins and an excellent bright finish. The winter was rather mild, yet abundant in rain and snow, and was followed by avery mild and rainy spring. This favoured a good canopy development, but alsosome mildew outbreaks, that healed completely thanks to the dry conditions ofthe following months. By mid August the vineyards showed 7 to 10 days of delayin their evolution compared to previous years. This delay led to a very longharvest in our vineyards, that took place from the end of September until earlyNovember. The sanitary state of the grapes was very good and the yields werelower than in previous years. The first wine of this winery was named after its initials. At the beginning a red ‘clarete’ wine was made as afine wine in the style of the Bordeaux “Claret” produced by the great chateaux’s of the Medoc. The success ofthe Cune Crianza motivated the creation of Cune Reserva. Imperial is one of the great wines of Spain. A classic Rioja, born in the twenties. The development of Imperial only happens when exceptional vintages occur in Rioja Alta.
