Description
2010 was a very good year for Merlot. We harvested on October 4th, sorted by hand and de-stemmed prior to partial crushing and fermentation in a stainless steel tank. The wine aged in a selection of French and American oak barrels (60% new) for 20 months, and we bottled it without filtration or fining of any kind. The resulting wine is absolutely succulent, with notes of sweet berries, vanilla and spice. Steve Heimoff at Wine Enthusiast had these very kind words for us: “This easy-to-drink Merlot is lusciously forward in blackberries and cherries, yet has extra qualities of structural complexity that recommend it. Beyond the sweetness are rich tannins, just-in-time acidity and a subtle floweriness of rose petals and violets.”
